University Spatial Planning As The Catalyst For Urban Regeneration
摘要
Abstract
Most research on town-gown relations are focused on the role of university spatial planning in the development process of new urban areas, and pay litle atention to the contribution of university spatial development to urban regeneration. Through three spatial development projects of Polytechnic of Milan, University of Ilinois at Chicago, and Tongji University under the pressure of campus expansion, this paper discussed how university spatial planning influence the process of urban regeneration. By comparing the triggering events, the strategies of university spatial development, the development modes, and the contribution of universities to urban regeneration, it uncovers the influences of universities in the knowledge economy to urban spatial structure and social power structure.关键词
