Effect of Acceptance of Disability, Sense of Coherence on Quality of Life of Colorectal Patients with Permanent Colostomy

Abstract
Objective To investigate the current status of acceptance of disability, sense of coherence and quality of life of colorectal patients with permanent colostomy, and discuss the effect of acceptance of disability, sense of coherence on quality of life. Methods Ninety patients in one third-level, first-class hospital in Qingdao City were recruited and investigated with a self-designed general information questionnaire, Acceptance of Disability Scale (AODS), Sense of Coherence (SOC) and City of Hope-Quality of life-Ostomy Questionnaire-Chinese Version(COH-QOL-OQ). Results The total scores of acceptance of disability, sense of coherence and quality of life of colorectal patients with permanent colostomy were 79.01 ±4.21, 53.42 ±4.19 and 4.47 ±1.31 respectively. The quality of life was positively correlated with acceptance of disability and sense of coherence and the correlation coefficient was 0.520 and 0.552 respectively (P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that acceptance of disability, sense of coherence, age, average monthly household income and postoperative time entered into the quality of life regression equation (P<0.05), R2=0.649. Conclusion The acceptance of disability and quality of life of colorectal patients with permanent colostomy are in medium level, but the sense of coherence is in low level. There is intimate correlation among quality of life, acceptance of disability and sense of coherence. To improve the quality of life of patients, medical staff should pay attention to raising the acceptance of disability and sense of coherence, and providing patients with individualized nursing intervention based on age, economic condition and postoperative time of patients.关键词
