摘要

Abstract

Vegetation is the major measure of water and soil conservation in Fenchuan River basin. The article studied on the reduction of water and sediment by vegetation when the basin suffered continuous heavy rainfall and flood in July 2013. The result shows that under the desirable vegetation conditions, Fenchuanhe River presents a strong function of runoff and sediment reduction for normal rainfall. However, if a heavy rainstorm occurs after abundant rainfall in previous time, heavy flood disasters with high sediment concentration might take place. This undoubtedly exerts an enlightening influence on the recognition of the drainage and sediment reduction functions of vegetation cover along the middle reaches of Huanghe River after suffering continuous rainfall and heavy rainstorm. This case shows that key silt storage dams are the necessary measure to defend the storm flood.
