摘要
Abstract
Female medical student in her late twenties presents with symptoms of anxiety and depression. She has no prior mental health history except for a brief period of time when she was prescribed antidepressants,which she discontinued due to side effects. Patient immigrated overseas as a child and performed well in school. She was accepted to a university in North America where she struggled to finish her degree. Patient is prone to feelings of stress and pressure. In social situations,she experiences stomach cramps and nervous tremors. Since childhood,she has been prone to generaliaed anxiety,including interpersonal relationships,school, and her future. Although she is able to attend class normally,she worries constantly and has poor sleep hygiene due to studying and emotional pressure from her parents. Her mother decided to stay at home in order to help her finish medical school and frequently reminds her to husband - hunt. Patient’s diagnosis is Generaliaed Anxiety Disorder with secondary symptoms of depression,stemming from anxiety consuming her energy and leaving her feeling drained. A different medication and cognitive behavioral therapy plus mindfulness stress reduction therapy is indicated. Patient is further advised to select a low - stress residency,such as dermatology.关键词
