Radial Growth of Populus euphratica Response to Climate Change at Southwest Edge of Badain Jaran Desert

Abstract
In this study, we developed a tree-ring width chronology using tree-ring cores of the Populus euphratica which collected from the southwest edge of Badain Jaran Desert in 2014. Using monthly precipitation, average maximum temperature, mean minimum temperature and average temperature from Gaotai meteorological station, the climate response of tree-ring widths was analyzed. Climate response analysis showed that the temperature during the growing season is limiting factor for the radial growth, and highest correlation(r=0.512, p<0.0001)between tree-ring width chronology and June temperature is found. The mean temperature (March-September)may be the main limiting factor of Populus euphratica radial growth at southwest edge of Badain Jaran Desert, and it has a clear physiological significance.关键词
