Effect of Self-Management Education for Autistic Children's Parents on Their Quality of Life and Coping Style

摘要

Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of self-management education for autistic children's parents on their quality of life and coping style. Methods 42 parents of autistic children received self-management intervention for one year, and they were given the assessment of Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), 36-item Short-Form Health Survey Questionnaire (SF-36) and Coping Style Questionnaire (CSQ) before and after the intervention. Results After the intervention, the severity of children autism alleviated significantly, the parents' scores of all dimensions in SF-36 increased significantly, the parents' scores of four dimensions (self-accusation, asking for help, illusion, rationalization) increased significantly, all the difference was statistical (P <0.05). Conclusions Self-management education can relieve the psychological pressure of autistic childrens' parents, and can change their coping style, improve their quality of life.
