Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of orthodontic toothbrush and periodontal scaling on the gingivitis of orthodontic patients. Methods 100 adolescent orthodontic patients receiving fixed orthodontic treatment were individed into study group (50 individuals) and control group (50 individuals). The study group and control group all accept oral health knowledge education. At the same time, the study group receives periodontal scaling every 6 Months and bush teeth with orthodontic toothbrush during the whole research process. The ordinary toothbrush was only used in control group. The plaque index and gingival index of two groups were recorded before treatment, 6 months after treatment and the end of study. Results The difference between two groups before treatment is not clear( >0.05). 6 months after treatment and the end of study, there was significant increasing in plaque index and gingival index of the two groups ( <0.05)and the degree of study group was below the control group ( <0.05). Conclusion Orthodontic toothbrush and periodontal scaling can effectively reduce dental plaque and relieve gingivitis during the orthodontic process.关键词
