摘要

Abstract

HVDC snubber is a transformer-like short-circuit current suppression device. It can suppress and interrupt short-circuit current of HVDC transmission effectively combined with HVDC circuit-breaker. In this paper, HVDC snubber model is developed by adopting nonlinear resistance and nonlinear inductance in parallel based on its nonlinear equivalent circuit. Then experiment and simulation are conducted to verify HVDC snubber performance, and results show that HVDC snubber can effectively suppress short-circuit current and reduce arcing time. Dynamic response of its non-linear equivalent circuit is also analyzed, and results show that HVDC snubber can suppress short circuit current effectively only in over-damping state. Finally, a hybrid HVDC short-circuit protection scheme is proposed, combining HVDC snubber and HVDC circuit-breaker, and its feasibility is analyzed.
