MMP-3 mRNA 在左、右半结肠癌组织中的表达及其与患者临床病理参数和预后的关系
Differential expression of MMP-3 mRNA in left-sided and right-sided colon cancer and its relationships with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis

Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3) mRNA in the left-sided and right-sided colon cancer and its relationships with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis .Methods Eighty pa-tients with colonic adenocarcinoma were divided into the left-sided colon cancer ( LSCC) group and right-sided colon cancer ( RSCC) group with forty patients in each by the boundary of splenic flexure .Eighty paired specimens were collected from each patient ’ s cancer tissues and itself normal colon mucosal tissues .The mRNA expression of MMP-3 was detected in two subgroups by real-time quantitative RT-PCR.Subsequently , the relationships between the expression and clinicopathologi-cal parameters as well as prognosis of each subgroup were analyzed .Results The mRNA expression of MMP-3 in the co-lon cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in the normal colon mucosa , and the MMP-3 mRNA expression in LSCC was higher than that in RSCC (P<0.01).In the Pearson χ2 test, the high expression of MMP-3 was closely related with lymphatic/vascular invasion and metachronous distant metastasis for both RSCC and LSCC ( all P<0.05).The high ex-pression of MMP-3 mRNA was also closely related with depth of invasion and cancer-related death of LSCC patients ( all P<0.05).Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the high MMP-3 mRNA expression group had the poorer median survival time than that of the low expression group (P<0.01), and the stratification analysis showed the median survival time of RSCC patients with high expression of MMP-3 was less than that of low expression one ( P<0.05).The expression of MMP-3 mRNA had no effect on the prognosis of patients (P>0.05).Conclusion The expression of MMP-3 mRNA in the LSCC tissues is significantly higher than that in RSCC tissues , and the high expression of MMP 3 is only a poor prognostic factor for LSCC patients .关键词
