Expression and clinical significance of ITGβ-4 in colorectal cancer tissues

Abstract
Objective To explore the role of integrin β-4 ( ITGβ-4) in the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer .Methods The expression of ITGβ-4 in 125 cases of colorectal cancer tissues ( cancer group , including 71 cases of colon cancer and 54 cases of rectal cancer ) , matching 75 cases of normal colorectal tissues ( normal group ) , and 28 cases of colorectal adenomas ( adenomas group ) were detected by immunohistochemical method .We analyzed the relationship of ITGβ-4 expression with clinicopathological parameters and survival of colorectal cancer patients .Results The high expres-sion rates of the normal group, adenomas group and cancer group were 6.67% (5/75), 14.29% (4/28) and 40.00%(50/125),respectively;and the high expression rate of ITGβ-4 in the colorectal cancer group was obviously higher than that of the normal group and adenoma group (all P<0.01).High expression of ITGβ-4 was closely associated with tumor differentiation, TNM stage and invasion depth (all P<0.05), but was not associated with tumor location , lymph node me-tastasis and survival time (all P>0.05).Among 66 patients with 5-year follow-up, the mean OS of 36 high expression ca-ses was 71.8 months and the mean OS of 30 low expression cases was 74.5 months (P>0.05).Conclusion The expres-sion of ITGβ-4 was increased in the colorectal cancer tissue and the abnormal expression might be associated with tumori -genesis and development of colorectal cancer .关键词
