Interrupting Characteristics of Ground Fault on UHV Transmission Line with Hybrid Reactive Compensation

Abstract
When ground fault occurs on ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission line with hybrid reactive power compensation using stepped controlled reactor and series compensation equipment,the transient recovery voltage(TRV)at both ends of the circuit breaker will show different characteristics by the related factors of hybrid reactive power compensation.Based on a simplified model of the UHV grounding fault network,the calculation expressions of the rate of rise of recovery voltage (RRRV) and the peak value of TRV are derived by theoretical analysis in the case of not shortened capacitor banks of series compensation when the circuit breaker opens.The waveform characteristics of TRV and the effect of hybrid reactive power compensation degree on breaking characteristics of the circuit breaker is analyzed by simulation in the case of shortening of series compensation at different times when the circuit breaker opens.The results show that RRRV and TRV peak decrease with an increase in the fault distance when the capacitor group of series compensation is not shortened and the length of the overhead line is fixed.When the length of overhead line is increased over 1 100 km,resonance will occur in UHV power grid when ground fault occurs.If the overhead line is shorter than 1 100 km,RRRV and TRV peak will increase with the length of the overhead lines getting longer.The more difficult it is to break the circuit breaker,the bigger the voltage value of power will be when the series capacitor group is shortened,while the increase in the compensation degree of series compensation and stepped controlled reactor is more conducive to the circuit breaker opening.关键词
