Recent research progress on plant flowering time regulation by temperature

Abstract
Flowering is an important physiological phenomenon during plant growth and reproduction processes and a transition sym ̄bol from vegetative to reproductive growth. Plant flowering is regulated by many internal and external factors, including the tempera ̄ture, which is an important environmental factor that influences flowering. In this paper, the recent research progress on plant flow ̄ering regulation by temperature, including the vernalization and thermo sensory pathways, is reviewed. More emphasis is given on gene functions of FLOWERING LOCUS T ( FT) and its family members, key upstream transcription factors, and miRNA that have been discovered recently when studying plants′response to temperature variations by changing flowering time. The review will help understand the molecular mechanism underlying plant flowering time regulation by temperature.关键词
