Entrepreneurial Network and Organizational Knowledge Acquisition:the Moderating Effect of Industrial Regulation

Abstract
Purpose/Significance] Enterprises in transition economies like China are always facing special context like personal relation-ship network and extensive industry governance. Nevertheless,current literature considers little about how they work together when these firms acquire their external knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between entrepreneurial network and knowledge acquisition,and the contingent effect of government regulation. Our study enriches and facilitates the social capital theory and in-stitution theory in the knowledge management field, and also helps entrepreneur and government to make sound decisions. [ Method/Process] We use large sample questionnaire to empirically analyze a survey data of 273 valid responses returned from questionnaires sent to 700 enterprises from Guangdong,Fujian,Shaanxi and Chongqing. [ Result/Conclusion] We find that both business ties and political ties will significantly promote firmˊs knowledge acquisition. With government regulation,the positive influence of both business ties and politi-cal ties on knowledge acquisition effect will be significantly weakened. Therefore,the government should actively streamline administration delegate power to the lower levels,and reduce industry regulation,to help enterprise obtain new knowledge and thus accelerate innovation and transformation.关键词
