《水浒传》作为中国的四大名著之一，在国内外享有盛誉。小说中108个英雄都有绰号，绰号是他们的一种代表与象征，具有浓厚的语言特色和文化特点。运用关联理论详细分析人物绰号翻译，判断译本是否将原作者的意图，在最小推理努力下传给了译语读者，由此证明关联理论在绰号翻译中的重要性。
