Abstract
To prevent and reduce collision accidents between merchant vessels and fishing vessels at sea, ensure life and property safety, and protect marine environment, the paper probes into the effective methods for preventing collision between merchant vessels and fishing vessels. Based on analysis of the existing conditions of fishermen, the patterns of fishing vessel operations, and the causes for collision between them, the paper proposes measures and suggestions on preventing such collision. The measures and suggestions may provide guidance for ship drivers in enhancing their navigation capabilities, strengthening ship maneuverability and avoiding distress at sea. To prevent and reduce such accidents, safety education for the two types of vessels should be strengthened on the one hand, and law enforcement should be enhanced by the Administration on the other.关键词
