Status of and Correlation between Readiness for Discharge and Quality of Discharge Teaching in Osteoporosis Patients

Abstract
Objective To explore the current situation of the readiness for hospital discharge and the quality of discharge teaching in osteoporosis patients, and analyze their correlation. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study and 114 osteoporosis patients were investigated within four hours before discharged in one Class III Grade I hospital in Chengdu by general information questionnaire, readiness for hospital discharge scale and quality of discharge teaching scale. Results The average score of items in readiness for hospital discharge was 7.40 ±1.35, and that of quality of discharge teaching 8.16 ±1.59. Items in quality of discharge teaching scale scoring ranking from high to low were social support available, patients ’ own situation, coping style after discharge and knowledge of the disease. There was positive correlation between the readiness for hospital discharge and the quality of discharge teaching in osteoporosis patients(r=0.452, P<0.01). Conclusion The readiness for hospital discharge in osteoporosis patients keeps in medium level and the readiness for hospital discharge is positively correlated with the quality of discharge teaching. Medical staff should strengthen discharge teaching to improve hospital readiness of patients with osteoporosis.关键词
