Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship between the level of homocysteine and the elderly patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus.Methods:141 patients with hypertension and diabetes were selected,and 133 elderly hypertensive patients of the same age were collected as the hypertension control group,then 79 healthy people of the same age were selected as the control group.The plasma homocysteine homocysteine levels,body mass index and blood glucose,blood lipid levels among those three groups were detected and compared.Results:The levels of plasma homocysteine,body mass index and blood glucose in the hypertension with diabetes mellitus group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);the former blood glucose level was also higher than that of hypertension group(P<0.05);the high density lipoprotein levels in the hypertension with diabetes group was lower than in the control group(P<0.05);the homocysteine has positively related with body mass index in the hypertension with diabetes group(r=0.211,P<0.05).Conclusion:The level of plasma homocysteine in elderly patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus is higher than that of healthy elderly people,the blood glucose and body mass index abnormally increased,and high density lipoprotein abnormalities.High blood pressure can elevate homocysteine levels and reduce the level of homocysteine, which has important significance for the treatment of patients with hypertension complicated with diabetes.关键词
