Abstract
The air intake system resistance directly influences the performance of ships' power system. To investigate the issue,this paper establishes a discrete numerical model regarding the flow field of a ship air intake system. Specifically,the Navier-Stokes equation is first solved using FLUENT,and the results under different working conditions are then discussed. It is observed that as the vertical hatch distance in-creases,the resistance coefficient drops. By adding a commutating board,the local resistance coefficient as well as the total resistance coefficient are lowered by 8% compared to the original design. Furthermore, the effects the inlet temperature on resistance coefficient are seen to be vital:when the inlet temperature is increased from 15℃to 40℃,the resistance coefficient decreases by 8.5%.关键词
