Abstract
Objective To analyze the effects of panretinal photocoagulation ( PRP) on changes in corneal subbasal nerve density in patients with ischemic type of center retinal vein occlusion ( CRVO) .Methods Ischemic CRVO patients ( n =20) accepted PRP and age and gender matched normal subjects ( n =20) were enrolled as control .Before and after treatment, in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) was used to obtain images for subbasal dendritic cells .Cell density was measured using NeuronJ software .Corneal sensitivity was tested using the Cochet-Bonnet esthesiometer .Data were analyzed with t-tests or χ2 test.Results After 6 months of the treatment , corneal subbasal nerve density was significantly lower in ischemic CRVO patients (10178 ±6109) than in normal subjects (18302 ±4991;P <0.05).Corneal sensitivity also re-duced after PRP and the difference between the two groups was significant ( P <0.05).Conclusions Patients accepted PRP showed a significant reduction in corneal subbasal nerve density .关键词
