Preparation and Combustion Performance of Sandwich Composite from Phenolic Foam and Fire-Retardant MDF

Abstract
Polyvinyl acetate, phenol-formaldehyde and urea-formaldehyde resins were individually used as adhesives to make sandwich composites with fire retardant medium density fiberboard for faces and phenolic foams as the core. Combustion performance of the composites was tested. The results showed that sandwich composites made with each of the three resins had internal bond strength that could reach 0.16 MPa with the appropriate amount of glue consumption. The sandwich composite glued with phenol-formaldehyde resin had the best fire retardant performance with the lowest peak heat release rate (pkHRR), oxygen consumption and CO/CO2 yield value.关键词
