Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of echocardiography in diagnosis of ruptured sinus of valsalva aneurysm (RSVA). Methods:Twenty-four patients with RSVA undergone surgical repairs in the last 7 years at our hospital were enrolled . Preoperative echocardiographic imaging of these patients were reviewed retrospectively . Results: The aneurysm arose from the right coronary sinus in 19 cases (79%) and the noncoronary sinus in 5 cases (21%). The predomi-nant fistula was from the right coronary sinus to right ventricle (75%), followed by the noncoronary sinus to right atrium (17%). Ventricular septal defect (VSD) was the most common complicated anomaly, occurring in 63%of all cases and 78%of the right coronary sinus aneurysm; most of the VSDs were at supracristae location (73%). Aortic regurgitation was the second common complicated lesion (58%). Compared with the surgical findings, 22 patients of RSVA (91.7%) were cor-rectly diagnosed preoperatively by echocardiography, but 5 coexisting VSD (33.3%) were missed. Conclusions:A compre-hensive echocardiographic examination can accurately detect RSVA and the coexisting cardiovascular anomalies. The diag-nostic accuracy could be further improved by paying more attention to the differential diagnosis with VSD and the diag-nosis of coexisting VSD.关键词
