Effects of Dietary Neutral Detergent Fiber Level on Performance, Serum Biochemical and Reproductive Hormones Indices of Lactating Rabbits

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary neutral detergent fiber ( NDF) level on performance, serum biochemical and reproductive hormones indices of lactating rabbits. One hundred pregnant IRA rabbits were randomly assigned to 4 groups with 25 replicates per group and 1 rabbit per replicate. Rabbits in the 4 groups ( groups A, B, C and D) were fed 4 different feeds, in which the NDF levels were 24%, 27%, 30% and 33%, respectively. The experiment lasted for 28 days. The results showed as follows:1) the average daily weight of mother rabbits in group C was significantly lower than that in other groups ( P<0.05) , the average daily feed intake of mother rabbits in group D was significantly higher than that in other groups ( P<0.05) , the lactation capacity in group C was significantly lower than that in other groups ( P<0.05) , the weaning weight of young rabbits in groups C and D was significantly higher than that in groups A and B ( P<0.05) . 2) The contents of total protein, albumin and globulin in serum in group B were significantly higher than those in group D (P<0.05), the serum insulin content in group C was significantly higher than that in group A ( P<0.05) , there were no significant differences on the contents of triglycerides, high density lipopro⁃tein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and very low density lipoprotein cholesterol in serum among all groups ( P>0.05) . 3) The contents of leuteinizing hormone, progesterone, estradiol, prolactin and follot⁃ropin in serum in groups B and C were significantly higher than those in groups A and D ( P<0.05) . According to these results, in the experimental conditions, dietary NDF level affects performance and serum reproductive hormones contents of lactating rabbits, and also has a certain effect on serum biochemical indices, the appropri⁃ate dietary NDF level for lactating rabbits is 24% to 27%.关键词
