A Survey of Urban Public Officials'Awareness of Mental Health and the Attitude to Mental Disorders among Different Nationalities

Abstract
Objective:To explore urban public officials'awareness of mental health and mental health knowledge and the attitude to mental illness in Karamay of XinJiang.Methods:2046 sample of urban public officials in Karamay received by cluster sampling completed mental health and mental health knowledge questionnaire(MK),mental ill-ness-related attitudes questionnaire(MA).Using SPSS 1 7.0 analysis statistical data of variance analysis,independ-ent sample t-test and descriptive statistics.Results:The urban public officials’awareness of mental illness was not comprehensive enough,there were still some prejudices and misunderstandings of urban public mental illness;Urban public officials of different nationalities on the mental health and mental health care knowledge(F = 23.65,P <0.001)and the attitude to mental health(F =2.766,P <0.01)had significant difference statistically.Conclusion:Ur-ban officials are lack of correct understanding of mental illness;Urban public officials'awareness of mental health and the attitude to mental disorders among different nationalities have significant difference statistically.关键词
