An Interview Research on Parental Practice of School Readiness for Migrant Children

摘要

Abstract

Twenty-three migrant children′s parents were interviewed to explore their practice of school readiness. Findings suggest that the parental practice of school readiness for migrant children mainly involves helping their child adapt to the settings of the new primary school, helping their child be ready for the forthcoming academic demands in the school, fostering their child′s good habits and independence. As the parental practice is nested into other fields of their daily life, which is unstructured, such parental practice of school readiness shows the characteristics of nestedness and casualness. In addition, sermon is another characteristics of parental practice of school readiness for migrant children.
