Application of chicken chorioallantoic membrane model in toxicity and efifcacy assessment of cosmetics
摘要
Abstract
The applications of chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) as a unique test system in toxicity testing, efifcacy assessment and mechanism study of cosmetic ingredients and products are summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of CAM are introduced, and the differences between the CAM test approaches for eye irritation and the suggestion of integrated testing strategy are provided. The methods based on CAM have been discussed including the tests of eye irritation, photo-toxicity, skin irritation, acute oral toxicity and genetic toxicity and the efifcacy evaluations in angiogenesis and anti-angiogenesis, anti-oxidation and anti-irritation. Finally, it concluded that CAM-based methods can be alternative to traditional animal experiments and can provide reliable data support for cosmetic testing and assessment.关键词
