Abstract

Bedding rock landslides are difficult to control,so analyzing the motion process of such landslides is of great importance for its risk assessment and disaster mitigation.We introduce a new method for landslide and Tsunami simulating,Tsunami Squares method,to examine and acquire the motion parameters of the landslide motion process.The Tsunami Squares method has the following advantages:it has small computational complexity,can simulate complex terrain,and is applied in different kinds of disasters.In additional,it can be easily integrated into GIS.By using this simulation method to do back-analysis to the data of the physical model experiment,we summarize the basic variation law of the slide mass thickness,velocity and momentum and other motion parameters under different geological background parameters.The results show that (1) the overall sliding stage of the bedding rock landslide motion ends at the place where the terrain varies significantly and then it starts to expand and disintegrate.(2) At the overall sliding stage,the landslide motion parameters are mainly controlled by the basal friction and they are not sensitive to other geological parameters.(3) After the disintegration of landslide,the motion parameters vary with the geological parameters,and they are most sensitive to the topography and least sensitive to the strength of slide mass.(4) The sliding velocity and distance are mainly influenced by the bed roughness and topography.The landslide influence sphere involving the lateral expansion is mainly controlled by the topography and slide mass material.
