Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical effectiveness of application of double-plane transrectal ultrasound in the diagnosis of carcinoma arising in the rectal adenoma. Methods Thirty-seven patients who were doubted having rectal carcinoma arising in the adenoma were examined by double-plane transrectal ultrasound and the results were compared with post-operation pathological diagnosis. Results Among the 37 patients, 32 cases were diagnosed as carcinoma arising in the adenoma by post-operation pathology, and 29 cases were diagnosed by double-plane transrectal ultrasound. There was no statistical significance between the two. The diagnose accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, the positive predictive value, the negative predictive value, the false positive rate and the false negative rate were 90.6%, 90.6%, 100%, 100%, 62.5%, 0% and 9.4% respectively. Conclusion Application of double-plane transrectal ultrasound showed high accuracy in diagnosis of carcinoma arising in the rectal adenoma, which should be the preferred method to guide the operation.关键词
