Abstract

ABSTRACT:Power generation technologies based on the clean and renewable energy sources such as solar energy are effective methods to resolve energy shortage and environment pollution problems. Photovoltaic technology and solar thermal power generation technology are alternatives to use solar energy, which can satisfy different demands according to their respective advantages. Thermoacoustic electric generator is a novel heat-to-electrical conversion technology with high reliability, high efficiency and environmental friendliness. Additionally, it has power flexibility by using one unit or multi units to produce small or large electric power respectively, which is very suitable for the utilization of solar energy. A brief introduction of solar thermal power generation technology was presented. Then, the research progress in traveling-wave thermoacoustic heat engine and traveling-wave thermoacoustic electric generator were reviewed and the solar-powered thermoacoustic power generation applications were shown as well. According to these work, we believe that the traveling-wave thermoacoustic electric generator will be a novel solar thermal power generation technology in the near future.
