Experimental Study of Working Fluids in Absorption Energy Storage Systems Driven by Waste Heat

Abstract
Criteria regarding the selection of suitable LiBr/H2O based working pairs for absorption energy storage systems driven by waste heat were proposed. The energy storage/release properties of working pairs in the literatures were also evaluated in our previous experiments. Under the guidance of the selection criteria, two new working fluids, based on the two existing working pairs but with better economy, were proposed. Experiments were undertaken to study the vapor pressures and the energy storage/release properties of both the new working fluids. The energy storage/release experiment has been introduced in detail. Experimental results have shown that both the new working fluids have lower saturated vapor pressures, thereby indicating better energy release performances. Comparisons between energy consumptions to produce unit refrigerant at different source temperatures suggest that the two working fluids and LiBr/H2O are all suitable working pairs for absorption energy storage/release systems, especially for those driven by low temperature waste heat with the heat resource temperature ranging from 380K to 400K.关键词
