Establishment of animal models of middle ear cholesteatoma and relevant research

Abstract
The pathogenesis of middle ear cholesteatoma remains unclear and there is no effective nonsurgical thera-py. Animal models are very important for studying pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of middle ear cholesteatoma. Common animal models involve ligation of the external ear canal, eustachian tube blocking, chemical injection into the mid-dle ear, autologous skin graft implantation plus intratympanic injection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and in vivo electropora-tion for Flag-hKGF vector transfection. In this paper, we reviewed current animal models of middle ear cholesteatoma in or-der to provide an experimental basis for further study of the pathogenesis (e.g. retraction pocket theory, immigration theory, basal cell hyperplasia theory), prevention and treatment of middle ear cholesteatoma.关键词
