Abstract
Objective:To analyze causes and enumerate preventive measures of food impaction of the im-plant-supported fixed dentures.Methods:The questionnaire survey,mouth examination,imaging examination,and model analysis were carried out in 240 implanting cases of food impaction problem.Results:According to the questionnaire survey the highest incidence of food impaction was in dentition defect caused by trauma,up to 84. 2%,and the second was periodontitis,its incidence was 80.1%.It showed that 75.0%of food impaction occured in the earlier period after implant restoration,most of which,horizontal impaction occupied 51.7%.The result of mouth examination showed that in adjacent area of food impaction among the implanting cases were with loose connections or an inappropriate extensive gap tendency.Imaging examination showed that obvious bony tissue ab-sorption frequently occured in implanting area of food impaction,the vertical distance from adjacent point to bone surface were mostly greater than 5 mm,which occupied 70.8%.Horizontal distance from implants to the adjacent tooth root were greater or equal to 2.5 mm occupied 60%of the cases.There were 81.2%of the implants form-ing an angle degree of greater than 15°with the long axis of the adjacent tooth.Sharp round dental crow appeared most frequently in food impaction cases,which occupied 44.6%.According to model analysis,30.4%of the ca-ses existed trapezoidal occlusion while 6.3%existed stuffed dental cusp.Conclusion:There are various and com-plicate causes of food impaction after implant prostheses.We should select appropriate preventive methods and a-void food impaction for long-term stability of prosthesis and improvement of patient’ s comfort.关键词
