Abstract

As cascade power stations constructed and operated, more concerns are attracted to the negative impact on fish from supersat-urated total dissolved gas ( TDG) generated by high dam spilling. High dam spilling most occurs in summer, accompanying with sand flushing. The sediment concentration in the flow may cause different dissipation rate of TDG. To explore the transportation and dissipa-tion of TDG with sediment in water, experimental cases of different flow rates and sediment concentrations were conducted in a self-designed channel with blocks to extend the distance and raise the residence time in the channel. And numerical simulations were per-formed according to the experimental conditions to obtained dissipation rate of different cases. The results revealed that sediment con-centration in water affected the dissipation rate. The dissipation rate of TDG increased with the sediment concentration increasing. The research result was of practical value, which provides scientific basis of the exploration of engineering measure to accelerate the TDG dissipation and ecological operational strategies to mitigate the negative impact on fish.
