Repair of rabbits articular cartilage defect by autogenous cancellous bone particles

摘要

Abstract

Objective To study the phenomenon that transplantation of the autogenous cancellous bone particles in cartilage defect of the rabbit′s knee joint can induce generation of cartilage tissue and promote the repair of articular cartilage defect. Methods After anaesthesia, 12 New Zealand white rabbit were made same cartilage defect in femo-ral medial condyle and lateral condyle of right knee, the depth and diameter were both 3 mm. As the experimental group, the cartilage defect in femoral medial condyle was repaired by autologous cancellou bone particle incise the rabbit′s iliac bone ( diameter of 1 mm ) the cartilage defect in femoral lateral condyle was not repaired as control group. To assess the therapeutic effect of the two different therapy methods, the gross specimen, the pathological stai-ning and the repair effect of the cartilage defect were observed at 12 weeks after surgery. Results The cartilage de-fect that was implanted by autologous cancellous bone particle had been repaired by neocartilage, the surface was smooth, the section staining shown cartilago articularis was generated. But in femoral lateral condyle that was not re-paired only little neocartilage appear at the edge of the defect, the defect was seen clearly. Conclusions The trans-plantation of the autogenous cancellous bone particles in cartilage defect of the rabbit knee joint can induce generation of cartilage tissue and promote the repair of articular cartilage defect. It is a good method for repair of articular carti-lage injury.
