Comparison and Analysis on the Effect of Self-correction of Retracted Articles with Different Citation in Web of Science Database

Abstract
[ Purpose/Significance] This paper aims to analyse the distribution of retracted articles which were obtained from the Web of Science ( WoS) and compare the effect of self-correction of retracted articles with different citation. [ Method/Process] This paper counted the distribution of country, periodical, subject of retracted articles, drew the survival curves of the high citation retracted articles, middle citation retracted articles and low citation retracted articles, and compared time-to-retraction and the annual average citation between pre-retraction and post-retraction among high citation retracted articles, middle citation retracted articles and low citation retracted articles. [ Result/Conclusion] Retracted articles were distributed in 67 countries and mostly in America. The number of retracted articles was more than 5 among 76 journals, which were mostly in the field of Biochemistry&Molecular Biology. With the increase of time-to-retraction, the citation was becoming larger and larger. The high citation retracted articles brought serious negative impact on the academic community and had great effect on self-correction. It is recommended that the researchers at home and abroad should pay more attention on retracted articles especially highly citation articles and the publisher and scientific research management departments should establish and improve the corresponding management mechanism to contain the anomie of scientific research timely and efficiently.关键词
