Effects of Different Dietary Supplementation Levels with Crude Polysaccharides Isolated from Alfalfa on Performance and Egg Quality of Laying Hens

摘要

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to study the effects of crude polysaccharides isolated from alfalfa ( ACPS) at different supplementation levels on production performance and egg quality of laying hens. Five hundred and forty aged of 27 weeks Hy⁃Line Brown hens were randomly allocated to 6 groups with 6 replicates per group and 15 hens per replicate. Hens in the control group were fed a basal diet, and the others in experi⁃mental groups were fed basal diets supplemented with 250, 500, 1 000, 2 000 and 4 000 mg/kg ACPS, re⁃spectively. The experiment lasted for 24 weeks. The results showed as follows: compared with the control group, 1) dietary supplementation with ACPS at 500, 2 000 and 4 000 mg/kg significantly increased egg pro⁃duction of hens during 1 to 8 weeks ( P<0. 05 ) . The groups added with ACPS at 250, 500, 1 000 and 2 000 mg/kg significantly increased egg production and decreased ratio of feed to egg during 9 to 16, 17 to 24 and 1 to 24 weeks (P<0.05), meanwhile significantly enhanced egg total mass during 17 to 24 and 1 to 24 weeks (P<0.05). However there were no obvious effects on the average egg weight and feed intake (P>0.05) . 2) Diets supplemented with 250, 500 and 1 000 mg/kg ACPS significantly improved eggshell color at 6th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th and 24th week (P<0.05), while significantly improved eggshell color at 8th, 12th and 16th week compared with 4 000 mg/kg ACPS dietary supplementation ( P<0. 05 ) . 3 ) Diets added with 2 000 mg/kg ACPS significantly increased eggshell strength at 6th, 20th and 24th week (P<0.05). 4) Diets supplemented with 250, 500, 1 000 and 2 000 mg/kg ACPS significantly improved eggshell thickness at 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th and 24th week (P<0.05), as well as 4 000 mg/kg ACPS supplementation group also signifi⁃cantly increased eggshell thickness at 8th, 20th and 24th week (P<0.05). 5) The group added with ACPS at 2 000 mg/kg significantly increased the albumen height and Haugh unit at 10th, 12th and 24th week (P<0.05), meanwhile significantly increased albumen height and Haugh unit at 10th and 12th week compared with 250, 1 000 and 4 000 mg/kg ACPS supplementation groups ( P<0.05) . These results suggest that the suitable sup⁃plemental level of ACPS can significantly enhance production performance and improve egg quality of laying hens. It is recommended that dietary supplementation with ACPS is 250 mg/kg.
