摘要

Abstract

License plate location is to find the exact location in an image which contains license plates,which is the pri-mary mission in license plate recognition(LPR)for intelligent transport system.A method based on the detection of vehicle rear to locate license plate is proposed in this paper.First the shadow of vehicle is used to get the candidates of vehicle rear. Then the areas which are not recognized as vehicle rear we need by means of a SVM classifier.To get the final location of li-cense plate,the method based on linguistic color space is used.The experimental results show that the proposed method can detect the vehicle rear and locate license plate effectively,and demonstrate the robustness on the change of light and the shad-ow around.
