Abstract

In order to improve the processability of cigarette products, reduce their moisture loss, and ensure the quality of tobacco products, we used glycerol and propylene glycol as controls , and compared the differences in the physical moisture reten-tion on cut tobacco among several new-type humectants.The results showed that:after being sprayed by glycerol, new humectant 3#, new humectant 4#and new humectant 5#, the cut tobacco had the equilibrium moisture content of 14.57%, 14.76%, 14.73%and 15.09%, respectively;there were no obvious differences in the physical moisture retention among other humectants .The high-er the equilibrium moisture content of cut tobacco sprayed by humectants , the more smooth its surface microstructure , the more obvious its spread organizational structure, and the more evidently its section thickness increased.After spraying glycerol, new hu-mectant 3#, new humectant 4# and new humectant 5# on the cut tobacco, its moisture loss rate was 7.64%, 8.01%, 8.36%and 7.48%, respectively, showing new humectant 5# had better physical moisture retention on cigarette .
