Study on Dynamic Characteristics of Hydro-pneumatic Damping System of DTH Drills

Abstract
To reduce the fatigue damage of the power pack of DTH drills induced by impact vibration, an adjustable hydro-pneumatic damping system is designed and installed between the power pack and the drill pipes. Its structure is analyzed and its working principle is described. The model of the accumulator is established according to its working principle. The dynamic model of a DTH drill with the hydro-pneumatic damping system installed is established and simulated with the Matlab code. Through the simulation analysis, the influences of the air volume and the pre-charge pressure of the accumulator and the diameter of the damper orifice on the system dynamic performance are obtained. The correctness of the models is proved by experiments. This work gives a theoretical basis for designing and optimizing hydro-pneumatic damping systems.关键词
