Audiological Characteristics of Infants Who Failed Newborn Hearing Re-screening
摘要
Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of several audiological methods following to the infants of YANTAI who failed to pass newborn hearing re-screening. Methods Between December 2011 and December 2013, 264 infants (150 males and 114 females) in Yantai who had failed hearing re-screening were included in this study. The age of this group ranged from 3 months to 3 years (mean=4.4 months). They were examined by auditory brainstem responses (ABRs), audi-tory steady-state responses (ASSRs) and distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs). Results ABRs indicated nor-mal hearing thresholds in 102 children (38.64%), mild hearing loss in 120 ears (22.73%), moderate hearing loss in 75 ears (14.21%), severe hearing loss in 19 ears (3.60%) and profound hearing loss in 43 ears (8.15%). Hearing loss was sensorineu-ral in 137 ears (25.95%) and conductive in 120 ears (22.73%). LVAS was diagnosed in 6 children. Conclusion The rate of hearing loss was 61.36%in these referred infants. Infants with mild and moderate hearing loss should be followed up to six or eight months and receive routine auditory evaluation. To diagnose infantile hearing impairment, it is necessary to employ multiple testing methods simultaneously.关键词
