Status of and Policy Suggestions for TCM ″ Preventive Treatment of Disease″ among Community Health Workers in Shanghai

Abstract
Objective To investigate the status of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ skills among community health workers in Shanghai and put forward policy suggestions. Methods From December 2O14 to January 2O15,we randomly selected 43O in - service doctors from 1O community health service settings in Huangpu District in Shanghai. The self - designed questionnaire about the cognition on and development of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ among community health workers in Huangpu District in Shanghai was used to conduct survey on included community health workers. The content of the questionnaire included general data,the cognition on TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ ,the mastery of knowledge and skills of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ . A total of 4O3 effective questionnaires were collected. Results Among 4O3 community health workers,215(54. 8% )thought that the knowledge and skills of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″were mainly acquired from continuing education;211(52. 4% )learned the skills from work;254(74. 3% )thought the main purpose of TCM is preventive health care;2O7(51. 9% )were satisfied with the relevant theoretical knowledge;278(69. 3% ) thought the skills of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ need to be further improved;29O(72. O% )hoped to receive relevant continuing education and training. In the past three years,382(94. 8% )community health worders didn′t received relevant cintinuing education and training;329(81. 7% )hadn′t participated in relevant academic conference,254(63. O% ) hadn′t participated in relevant training class;366(9O. 8% )hadn′t participated in relevant non - degree education. Community health workers with different posts and occupations,different awareness levels of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ , different understanding degrees,different cognition levels of its necessity and different confidence levels in its implementation were significantly different in the usage of skills of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ (P < O. O5). Conclusion The skills of TCM ″ preventive treatment of disease″ need to be further improved. We suggest the skills should be vigorously promoted, further education and training should be enhanced,the service ability of health workers should be improved,and appropriate skills should be developed.关键词
