Abstract

It is found that fresh air is not regulated in central air-conditioning systems for shopping malls based on a survey to several marketplaces in Xiamen. The energy saving potential of fresh air regulation in central air-condi-tioning system is calculated and analyzed based on the field investigation to SM Town Plaza ( the covered area 12600 m2 ) in Xiamen. It is found that the energy cost for the fresh air is 208, 800 Yuan per year. 52, 200 Yuan could be saved if the automatic control device of CO2 concentration is adopted to fresh air system in this case. Moreover, the payback period of technical updates is only 3 months. There is a great potential of energy saving for fresh air regula-tion in central air-conditioning system in shopping centers.
