Abstract

In 2015, the current status of soil mercury pollution in the rice fields, dry lands and vegetable fields surrounding the abandoned mercury mining areas of Tongren City was investigated and analyzed for further tracking survey and scientific evaluation of the eco-environment of used mercury polluted areas. S-type random sampling method was used and atomic fluorescence was adopted to analyze the study targets. The results indicated that the average content of THg was 123.75, 79.33 and 21.89 mg/kg in the rice fields surrounding the mercury mining areas of Wanshan County, Yunchangping and Lula Village respectively, 117.20, 73.34 and 19.90 mg/ kg in the dry lands and 129.40, 81.78 and 26.50 mg/kg in the vegetable fields. With regard to Wanshan mercury mining area, the average content of MeHg was 6.48 µg/kg in the rice land, 4.80 µg/kg in the dry land and 6.40 µg/kg in the vegetable field. With regard to Yunchangping mercury mining area, the average content of MeHg was 3.73 µg/kg in the rice land, 2.47 µg/kg in the dry land and 6.40 µg/kg in the vegetable field. With regard to Lula Village mercury mining area, the average content of MeHg was 1.92 µg/kg in the rice land, 0.87 µg/kg in the dry land and 2.47 µg/kg in the vegetable field. Therefore, from the above results, it was concluded that the level of mercury pollution in Wanshan mercury mining area was much higher than that in Yunchangping and Lula Village mercury mining areas.
