3D Unsteady Turbulent Simulation of Francis Turbine with Long and Short Blades

Abstract
In order to explore the inter flow characteristics on different openings in francis turbine with long and short blades, the unsteady numerical simulation of three dimensional turbulent flow were used in the whole flow of the turbine with long and short blades based on the method of calculation of the numerical simulation of the flow field. The results show that the frequency of pressure pulsation is the product of the runner frequency and blade number on the interface of the runner and vane in different openings, and the low flow rate condition has the maximum frequency amplitude. When the turbine operates are in the low flow rate conditions, the vortex looks like spirality in the draft tube, and the vortex rotates around the runner shaft are at the clockwise, which is the same as the runner. When the turbine operates are in the rated conditions, there is no vortex in the draft tube. And when the turbine operates are in the mass flow rate condition, the vortex looks like conical in the draft tube.关键词
