摘要

Abstract

Objective To explore STAT3 and Nanog gene expression in esophageal cancer tissues and its correlation with the clinicopathological characteristic in order to look for new targets of gene therapy for esophageal cancer. Methods There were 50 cases of esophageal cancer which was selected from the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology in 2014 as the research object.The expression of STAT3 and Nanog mRNA was detected by RT-PCR in esophageal carcinoma and paracancerous tissues.Meanwhile the expression and localization of STAT3 and Nanog protein were detected by Western blot technique and immunohistochemical technique in same tissues. Results The mRNA and protein expression of STAT3 and Nanog in esophageal cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in paracancerous tissue(P <0.05 ).The expression of STAT3 and Nanog in poorly differentiated esophageal cancer tissues was observably higher than that in other differentiated cancer tissues (P <0.05 ).Among esophageal cancer tissues,without lymph node metastasis cancer tissues were accompanied with significantly lower positive expression rates than the tissues with lymph node metastasis(P <0.05).The esophageal cancer tissues without distant metastasis have less expression of STAT3 and Nanog than the tissues with distant metastasis(P <0.05 ).The expression of STAT3 and Nanog in Esophageal cancer tissues showed positive correlation(r =0.303,P <0.05 ). Conclusion STAT3 and Nanog gene may play an important role in carcinogenesis and development of esophageal cancer,and it might be the new target genes for diagnosis and treatment of esophageal cancer.
