Abstract

Wood flour/PVC composite is consisted of two main components, wood flour and PVC. It possesses excellent electrical insulation property. It is necessary to conduct antistatic treatment on wood flour/PVC composite for certain ap⁃plications, such as used in computer room, conference room, program⁃controlled equipment room, operating room or e⁃lectronic components workshop due to the accumulation of excessive electrostatic charge, which is detrimental to human health and electronic devices. The antistatic wood flour/PVC composite with the addition of different contents of non⁃ionic antistatic agent, polymer antistatic agent, and anionic antistatic agent were prepared via extrusion. The effects of anionic antistatic agent ( SAS-93) on the properties of wood flour/PVC composite were investigated in detail. In compar⁃ison with non⁃ionic antistatic agent and polymer antistatic agent, the anionic antistatic agent showed the best antistatic effect for wood flour/PVC composite. When the content of SAS-93 was 40 g, the surface resistivity (ρs ) and volume re⁃sistivity (ρV) of the composite were dropped to 1�20×108 Ω and 4�67×108 Ω·cm, respectively, meeting the require⁃ment of related antistatic materials. The ρs and ρV decreased with further increasing of SAS-93 content. The antistatic property of wood flour/PVC composite improved slightly when adding more than 80 g SAS-93. The FTIR analysis showed that SAS-93 did not react with other components of the composite other than PVC. TG analysis showed that the addition of SAS-93 improved the thermal stability of the composite by promoting the composite partly forming char in advance at high temperature. The torque analysis showed that the equilibrium torque and shear heat of the composite decreased with the increasing of SAS-93 content, indicating that the addition of SAS-93 with moderate amount is beneficial to the pro⁃cessing properties of wood flour/PVC composite. However, the flexural strength, flexural modulus and impact strength of the composite decreased remarkably with the increasing of SAS-93 content.
