Abstract

The primary goal of system restoration is to quickly restore all of generation units and reduce customer outage time. Determination of non-blackstart units’ restoration sequence is a critical step of system restoration process. The traditional methods to determine units start-up sequence mostly only considered the time characteristics of generation units, while ignoring the charging time of restoration paths. The paper propose a new method to determine restoration sequence of non-blackstart units with consideration of charging time of restoration paths for achieving shortest restoration time. Case studies on a 23 buses test system indicate that this new method takes less time to restore non-blackstart units comparing with the traditional approach without consideration of charging time of branches.
