Abstract

ABSTRACT:While trying to decrease the impacts of both the fundamental time-variation and the decaying DC component on phasor estimation, the algorithm based on time-domain information requires several data windows to get the phasor estimation, which leads to a long latency and can hardly satisfy the IEEE standard on dynamic response speed of P-class phasor measurement unit (PMU). Thus, this proposed approach only used frequency-domain information to decrease these two impacts. The Taylor model was adopted to express the characteristics of time-variation and decaying DC component;and several phasor estimations at different frequency bins were obtained with one data window by using the frequency-domain information;and then these phasor estimations were employed to estimate the model parameters of time-variation and decaying DC component; and finally the reported phasor estimation was attained by phase-shift operation. Tests on ideal signals and PSCAD/EMTDC generated signals show that, with limited increase of computational cost, the proposed algorithm can alleviate the influence of dynamic signals and decaying DC component on phasor estimation, and has advantages of high precision, fast dynamic response speed and short latency, which can meet the requirements of IEEE standard on PMU.
