Effect of TOMATIS Audio Training on Memory Function of Patients with Stroke

Abstract
Background Memory disorders after stroke are common. There are not enough effective targeted rehabilitation to improve memory disorders. A new method that improves memory function after stroke is necessary. Objective To explore the effect of TOMATIS audio training on memory function of patients with stroke. Methods 80 stroke patients meeting the inclusion criteria were recruited from Tangshan Rehabilitation Medical Center from June to December 2015. The patients were divided into experiment group(n = 40)and control group(n = 40)by random table method. Both groups received conventional rehabilitative treatment;control group received music training with conventional frequency,and experiment group received TOMATIS audio training. The general data of patients were collected,and scores of the Rivermead behavioral memory test second edition( RBMT-Ⅱ)and its dimension before and after intervention were recorded and compared. Results There was no significant difference in gender,age,education,marital status,occupation,course of disease,nature of disease,side of disease,location of disease,and memory function between both groups(P > 0. 05). The scores of name recall,appointment recall,picture recognition,face recognition,immediate recall of a story,delayed recall of a story,directional,immediate route recall,delayed route recall and information recall,and total score of RBMT-Ⅱ after intervention in control group were lower than those in experiment group(P < 0. 05):there was no significant difference in the scores of hidden object recall and date after intervention between the two groups(P > 0. 05). Conclusion TOMATIS audio training can effectively improve the memory function of patients with stroke.关键词
