Detection of Aquatic Species Using Environmental DNA
摘要
Abstract
To understand the local distribution of rare and exotic species is crucial for the conservation and manage-ment of them.Environmental DNA (eDNA)technique provides an efficient,non-invasive,sensitive detection method to determine the existence of species by collecting,extracting,and amplifying DNA from the environmental samples.Here we reviewed the advances of eDNA detection technique in the field of aquatic population detection, and discussed the advantages and challenges of eDNA analysis as a survey tool in ecology.We focused on the appli-cation of eDNA for early detection of aquatic invasive species and for the determination of rare or endangered spe-cies distribution as well as the monitoring of biodiversity.We also addressed the applying potential of eDNA tech-nique for the conservation of global biodiversity .关键词
