Operation Characteristics of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Its Enlightenment on the Construction of Chinese Scientiifc and Technical Think Tanks

Abstract
Purpose/signiifcance]It was explicitly put forward that scientiifc and technical innovation was the core of the innovation-driven development strategies on the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Scientific and technical think tanks are asked for higher standards and requirements to provide the intellectual support and counseling services under this strategy. It is meaningful to study the world’s top scientiifc and technical think tank mode in order to speed up the construction of China’s scientiifc and technical think tanks. [Method/process]With the methods of literature and information investigation and expert consultation, this paper summarized the operation features of Massachusetts Institute’s science, technology and society program which was ranking the top of the world scientiifc and technical think tanks.[Result/conclusion] Suggestions are put forward that scientiifc and technical think tanks should concentrate on the construction of various types of advanced scientific and technical think tanks, the combination of science, technology, humanities and society, interdisciplinary construction and organization, introduction and cultivation of ifrst-class talents, and shaping the media inlfuence.关键词
